Korean Corn "Cron" Dog

Korean street-food corn dog inspired by the U.S. Corn Dog: sausage or mozzarella in sweet yeasted batter (no cornmeal), coated in panko or potato cubes, fried, sugared, sauced with ketchup, mustard, or gochujang-mayo.

The Korean Corn Dog—often playfully nicknamed the “Cron Dog”—is a wildly popular street snack that evolved from the American corn dog but turned up the volume in texture, variety, and sheer flair. It features a hot dog (or cheese, or both) on a stick, coated in a yeasted batter and rolled in add-ons like panko, cubed potatoes, crushed ramen, or breadcrumbs, then deep-fried to golden perfection. After frying, it’s often sprinkled with sugar and topped with ketchup, mustard, or sweet chili sauce. Originating in South Korea’s youth culture hubs like Myeongdong, it exploded in popularity globally in the 2010s thanks to viral food videos. More than a snack, it’s a crunchy, stretchy, photo-worthy event.
